Founded in 1956 the VILF today represents more than 800 employees of the German paint and coatings industry, raw material suppliers, universities and institutes. In the early days the members were graduated engineers from the main German paint schools, who were not represented by the relatively restricted German Chemists association. Still today most of the members are paint engineers, but also many chemists, paint technicians and even commercial employees have joined the VILF. More than 70 companies support the association as company members.
In accordance with the statutes the main goal is to improve the technical knowledge of the members by various measures.

VILF Annual Meeting
The main event of the year is the two day annual conference held in autumn in Neu-Isenburg, close to Frankfurt, which VILF-members may attend free of charge. Lectures and contributions provided by the paint industry, organizations, universities and raw material suppliers present the latest developments and findings. Due to the high-level lectures on current topics, the number of participants is growing steadily. The conference is also becoming increasingly popular with our colleagues from neighboring countries. Last year about 300 members and guests attended the conference. Each annual conference starts with a members’ meeting on Wednesday evening. The lectures are presented all day on Thursday and on Friday morning. Another highlight is the gala dinner on Thursday night, where socializing and networking within the branch is priority

VILF District Groups
The district groups of the VILF offer free lectures, often supported by member companies. Depending on the group, three to five lectures are offered each year on current topics. Discussions are encouraged during the event but also afterwards, because usually the meetings end in a relaxed atmosphere while enjoying a good meal. Once again there are plenty of opportunities to network with other paints and coatings specialists. VILF-members can register for one or more district groups and will receive invitations to the events accordingly. Additionally the regional meetings and the topics are announced online on the VILF-homepage under district groups.
